SCDIO — Well being for all

Our approach

The Human-Centered and Participatory Approach

Communities are co-creators of the solutions they receive. We empathize, co-design, implement side by side, and then hand over the governance that keeps systems running.

HCPA

Four steps, run in order, every time

SCDIO applies a unified Human-Centered and Participatory Approach, ensuring communities are co-creators of the solutions they receive.

Empathize & Engage

Understanding community needs, cultural dynamics, gender roles, and environmental realities through direct engagement.

4.1

Co-Design & Triggering

Using community triggering to motivate collective action and co-design solutions that fit local lifestyles and environments.

4.2

Collaborative Implementation

Working side-by-side with community members, ensuring inclusive participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups.

4.3

Sustain & Empower

Establishing and training CBWSOs and water committees to manage, operate, and maintain WASH systems long after project completion.

4.4

Capacity statement

The expertise behind the programmes

Our technical capability spans the full project lifecycle — from hydro-geological assessment through design, construction, and long-term monitoring.

5.1
Multidisciplinary Technical Expertise
Our team includes civil/water engineers, environmental scientists, public health specialists, and community development experts capable of managing the full project lifecycle.
5.2
Infrastructure Design & Innovation
We design climate-resilient water systems — solar-powered, hybrid, and gravity-fed — that reduce operational costs and increase reliability.
5.3
Project Cycle Management & MEAL
We use internationally aligned project management frameworks and robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning systems to track outputs and outcomes.
5.4
Stakeholder Synergy
We collaborate closely with Local Government Authorities, village leaders, regional water basins, and national agencies to ensure alignment with district and national development plans.

Accountability

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

The MEAL Unit ensures that programs are data-driven, accountable, and continuously improving.

  • Designing and implementing monitoring frameworks
  • Conducting baseline, midline, and endline assessments
  • Managing data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Leading learning reviews and adaptive management processes
  • Operating accountability systems such as feedback hotlines, community scorecards, and beneficiary satisfaction surveys

The MEAL Unit works closely with all departments to ensure transparency, evidence-based decision-making, and compliance with donor reporting standards.

We are glad to walk partners through a worked example — the assessment, the design decisions, and the governance handover.
